Annie and Sylvie in the field!

Prior to moving to the farm, Annie Baggett had a dream that her front field was full of purple blooms. That dream is now a reality where Annie, her husband Dale and daughters Abigail and Sylvie have lived and tended the farm for seven years.

On land formerly cultivated by neighboring Latta Dairy Farm, many varieties of lavender now grow and bloom in that field of dreams -- the first farm of its kind in North Carolina. With support from family, friends and the local community, sunshine lavender farm and its line of natural products for body, gifts and weddings continues to grow and flourish.

Our Beliefs

So, how have you experienced sunshine lavender farm? Have you received some of our hand-crafted products as a gift? Have you visited our signature purple tent and sipped lavender lemonade at a community event? No matter how you experience the farm, we want you to have a lasting, enjoyable experience. Most importantly, without your support, none of this would be possible! Thank you.

We are a small farm and believe that each of us can make a positive difference in our community. We tend our lavender front "yard" with about a dozen different lavender varieties, from white to pink to all shades of purple. Using organic practices is important to us. The abundance of bees, butterflies and praying mantis in our lavender is proof, we believe, that we are helping the environment. We do not use artificial fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides in our field. The field is plowed with help of a neighbor and his tractor prior to planting -- mounding up the rows for good drainage. Once the field prep is complete, the work is done by hand -- planting, mulching, weeding, harvesting, pruning and amending. The work can be hard on the back, and always oh, so fragrant!

Supporting the local economy is important to us. We employ local help and pay a living wage for their efforts. We sell our farm-fresh lavender products at area farmers' markets, events and on our web site to promote our unique farm and the benefits of agriculture and value-added products. Our products are all currently crafted by hand on the farm, using base ingredients and materials purchased locally whenever possible.

Modern life is hectic and many folks have become detached from the community, each other and the land. With this in mind, our aim is to create lasting memories through wonderful experiences with us both on and off the farm.
